COA Korea Branch: Well-attended Meeting and new Work Groups established

The 2019 COA Korea Regional Meeting took place in Seoul in November. It was attended by over 110 participants, with a high number of delegates from the shipping line industry, including HMM, SM Lind, KMTC, Sinokor and others. There were also representatives from the Korean Shipowners Association, KOBC and other government agencies, as well as associations, finance companies, leasing companies and many different manufacturers, ITC Companies and container traders.

Despite the on-going challenges in the industry, participants showed their commitment to rebuild the Korean shipping industry and showed considerable interest in the work being undertaken by the COA and by the Korea Regional Branch.

The Conference Agenda covered a wide range of activities related to the container business. Following this Meeting, the Korea Branch has set up six Work Groups, as follows:

  • Container Management (Interchange, Lease/Sale, Equipment Pool and Operations)
  • Container Technical Management (New Production Quality Control and M&R)
  • Container Safety and Claims
  • IT & Telematics
  • Reefer Containers
  • FlexitanksThe COA Korea Branch will have a meeting on 26 December, to confirm the Work Group agenda and discuss plans for 2020.
